Brittany Kochen
Founder & Principal Designer
Interior design has always been more than a career for me, it’s been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. As a child, I was the one constantly rearranging furniture in my bedroom, painting murals on my walls, and finding new ways to make a space feel like an expression of me. Even then, I knew that the way a room is designed has the power to shape how we feel, how we gather, and how we live.
That passion led me to pursue formal training at BCIT, where I earned my Certification in Interior Design in 2013, followed by my Diploma in 2015. Since then, I’ve spent over a decade immersed in the design world, from working with one of the top interior design firms in the Lower Mainland to specializing in historical preservation with a Vancouver-based firm. These experiences gave me a deep understanding of both the technical and creative sides of design, and the confidence to bring your vision to life.
But Dash of Light was born from something deeper, the belief that our homes should be a reflection of who we truly are. I don’t see myself as just a designer, but as your partner, someone to collaborate with, guide you through the process, and make the journey as exciting and stress-free as the result.
Having been born and raised in Ladner, there’s something especially meaningful about helping families in my own community create homes they love. This is the place I’ve always called home, and it brings me so much joy to design spaces where others can put down roots, grow their families, and build a life in an area we both treasure.
Today, Dash of Light is my way of helping people create homes that feel connected, authentic, and timeless. Spaces that blend function and beauty, with subtle statements of personality, what I call livable beauty. Whether it’s a single-room refresh, a full-home renovation, or a new build, my goal is always the same, to create a home that’s unmistakably you.
Liveable beauty - thoughtful design that feels functional, beautiful, and unmistakably you.
